The song first premiered as Jack Saunders’ Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1, and arrives as a three-minute-long dance-pop anthem. It combines the attitude of acid house, the beats of dance and the tongue-in-cheek playfulness of pop.
Officially shared today (July 24), the track arrives after it was given a live debut during JADE’s huge performance at the Woodsies stage at Glastonbury 2025. For the set, the soloist and former Little Mix star brought out the Aussie duo for a surprise collaboration.
The lyrics were quick to gather momentum online as well after the live debut, with the cheeky line “Tina says you’re a c***” making its way onto flags at the Worthy Farm festival after the set and the video getting over 6million views on TikTok.
Speaking about the song, Confidence Man said: “Talk shit, get a hit. There’s been a lot of chat going round but we can finally give you the truth of it. ‘Gossip’ is here and god it tastes good. JADE put the cherry on top of this pop sundae and we can’t stop eating.”
JADE continued: “I met Confidence Man at the Rolling Stone Awards and loved them. Working on this track with them was so much fun and as chaotic as we live for. Tina said…!”

After her set at Glasto, JADE spoke to NME about her forthcoming record, ‘That’s Showbiz Baby!’, and shared why she has been using her platform to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
“I think I’ve always been a bit mouthy when it comes to things that are important. I’m not afraid to speak up and stand up, especially for the LGBTQ+ community,” she said. “I feel like it’s important, now more than ever, to stand particularly with the trans community. We are seeing a lot of transphobia, a lot of propaganda and a lot of negative press, so I just wanted to make sure that they know that I will say it with my chest and I’ll stand up for them.”
“That was important for me at Mighty Hoopla, and it’s been fun because at every show, especially with ‘Fuck You For Now’, I get to shout out different people or say different things,” she added. “Today, with Glastonbury, I shouted out what we’re seeing right now with the genocide going on in Palestine. I feel like it’s important now, more than ever, for pop artists to show that it’s okay to speak out and educate yourself. Don’t be afraid to protest.”
She also spoke about taking inspiration from RAYE, her mindset going into the Glasto performance, and how her upcoming solo album couldn’t have come together without her lessons learned in Little Mix. Check it out in full here, or watch a snippet of the interview in the video above.
As for Confidence Man, the Australian electro-pop duo – comprised of Janet Planet and Sugar Bones – caught up with NME at the BRIT Awards earlier this year to tease new music in 2025.
“There is a lot of writing and a lot of collaborations planned. We’re working with a bunch of people who we didn’t have time to work with on the last record,” Janet said.
“I think we’re just looking forward to exploring a bit and seeing what happens when we have a bunch of time where we don’t have to do anything.” Sugar Bones continued: “After being on tour for a while you start getting itchy feet to get back into the studio. I feel like we’re already there now.”
The new music follows on from them sharing ‘3AM (LA LA LA)’ in 2024, and the record getting a four-star review from NME.
“Already the most fun live band around, you always feel that Confidence Man are on the precipice of becoming the kind of proper crossover pop stars that Bowen Yang might impersonate on Saturday Night Live,” it read. “‘3AM (LA LA LA)’, their most assured collection yet, proves they definitely have the tunes to match their outsized personas.”
It went on to be named as NME’s 20th best album of 2024.
