The show has been a big hit with viewers, with over 12million people watching the first episode as the celebrities try to determine the designated “traitors” from the “faithfuls”, in the hope of winning a cash prize that will go to a charity of their choice.

Best known in the world of rugby, Marler made over 286 appearances for elite club Harlequins, and represented England 95 times. He retired last year, before which he was already making appearances on TV shows such as The Wheel, and hosting his podcast Joe Marler’s Things People Do.

Speaking ahead of the event (via The Independent) the athlete opened up about his favourite moment from being on the show. “My highlight would be getting a follow from Dawn French off the back of one of the memes on Instagram” he revealed, before discussing his newfound fame thanks to the series.

“I didn’t think I’d get on the show let alone make it to the final” he said. “It is a privilege to have made it this far.” Marler is among the favourites to win having become a fan favourite for his likeable personality, and secret alliance with other contestants.
