The cause of death of the teen found in a car registered in D4vd‘s name has been ‘deferred’, and could take “a few months” to be determined.
The deceased was identified last month as a teenage girl, who was said to be between the ages of 14 and 15.
Law enforcement officials told Rolling Stone: “The decedent has been identified, but the legal next of kin notification is still pending. Information cannot be released until after the notification occurs.”
A Los Angeles County Medical Examiner report stated that the deceased had wavy black hair and a tattoo on her right index finger that read, “Shhh…”. The document added that the body was “severely decomposed”, and had been inside the car “for an extended period of time before being found”.
The body was discovered on September 8 after police responded to a report of a foul odour coming from an impounded vehicle at a tow yard in Hollywood, Los Angeles. According to officers, the car had been there for a couple of days, and the body was discovered inside a bag in the front boot.
The deceased has since been identified as Celeste Rivas Hernandez, 15. On Monday (September 29), the exact cause of death was listed as “deferred”, according to Yahoo!.

“Due to the ongoing death investigation, the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner cannot disclose what testing and/or studies were requested,” the medical examiner’s office said.
“Deferred cases can take a few months before a cause of death is determined.”
LAPD Captain and Commanding Officer Scot M. Williams told People that the deceased’s body had likely been in the car for “several weeks” before it was found.
“We know that the Tesla had been parked at the location from which it was towed for several weeks, so it is very likely Celeste Rivas Hernandez had been dead for several weeks prior to her body being discovered,” he said.
The Tesla in question was registered in Hempstead, a city near Houston in Texas, to D4vd (real name David Anthony Burke).
“We know for sure that Celeste Rivas Hernandez died and someone placed her body in the front trunk area of David Burke’s Tesla,” Williams explained. “The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not determined a cause or manner of her death, so we don’t know for sure if anyone has any criminal culpability for her death beyond the concealment of her dead body.”
According to People, the LAPD’s robbery-homicide division is currently still investigating the case.
Sources in the neighbourhood where the Tesla was parked previously reported that the vehicle had been seen in various places over the past few months. It was reportedly left in its final spot on Bluebird Avenue in the Hollywood Hills for about three weeks. Before this, it was said to have been parked a few blocks away as far back as May.
After the body was found, it was revealed that Burke had been informed of the investigation and was “cooperating” with the authorities. The artist has since been linked to the home that the LAPD had searched in connection with the deceased’s disappearance.
D4vd recently cancelled his US tour and scrapped plans to release a deluxe edition of his debut album ‘Withered’. His headline tour dates in Europe and the UK have since been axed as well.
The musician was out on tour when the body was discovered, and initially continued with the dates as planned. During a gig in Minneapolis last month, he thanked fans for their support and threw Labubus into the crowd.
