Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 Will Blend The Campaign And Multiplayer Like Never Before – Report

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s campaign could include a brand-new element that brings together single-player and multiplayer. According to Insider Gaming, the game’s final campaign mission will morph into a 32-player multiplayer experience that could take the form of some kind of “extraction-based” experience.

The report said a map called Avalon was initially set to be the newest Call of Duty: Warzone map, but it’s now being used for the final campaign mission in Black Ops 7.

“It was said that the mission will be ‘hardcore’ and similar to other extraction shooters on the market; if you’re killed and your squad is wiped, you will lose all your character’s progress,” the report said.

The report added that this new setup is part of Black Ops 7’s push to have progression shared across campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies. What this means is players can level up their guns, characters, and battle pass in the campaign and Zombies modes, not just multiplayer, according to the report.

GameSpot has contacted Activision in an attempt to get more details.

Activision may have more information to share soon, as a big reveal for the game is set for Tuesday, August 19 as part of Gamescom Opening Night Live.

Black Ops 7 was first announced in June during the Xbox Games Showcase. Activision didn’t do much in the way of hyping or teasing the reveal beforehand, and that was intentional, as the company was actively trying to copy Beyonce’s approach.

The game is set in the year 2035 and aims to be the “most mind-bending” Black Ops game yet. Black Ops 7 is also notable because this is the first time Activision is releasing Black Ops games in back-to-back years. Treyarch and Raven Software are the main co-developers for Black Ops 7, and these two studios also co-developed 2024’s Black Ops 6.

In addition to Black Ops 7, it’s expected that Call of Duty: Warzone will get new updates in the future tied to Black Ops 7. In fact, the Black Ops 7 trailer concluded with a possible tease for a new Warzone map.

Black Ops 7 will be available on Game Pass at launch. Some theorized that it might cost $80 when purchased outright, but Microsoft changed course and will not charge that much.
