How to increase inventory space in Borderlands 4

You can increase your character’s inventory space via the SDU menu. SDU, which stands for Storage Deck Upgrade, is somewhat akin to points or resources that you earn throughout your adventures. The SDU menu not only allows you to increase the capacity for the stuff you’re carrying around, but also the maximum ammo for various types of weapons.

Which SDU upgrade should you prioritize?

Among all the upgrades in the SDU menu, we definitely recommend the Backpack, followed by the Lost Loot and Bank options. These help increase your Borderlands 4 inventory space:

The Backpack upgrade is your top priority since it denotes how many unequipped items can be carried at any given time.

The Bank upgrade is pretty good, too. You can store items for your other characters–i.e. “alts”–as well as gear pieces that have Firmware mods.

Lost Loot, meanwhile, refers to the machine that stores gear pieces that you left behind or didn’t pick up. You don’t want to lose track of a legendary drop that you didn’t notice.

Weapon ammo upgrades shouldn’t be prioritized since you’ll find plenty of ammunition and vending machines while exploring areas and fighting foes.

Collectibles and side objectives net you SDUs for utility and storage functions.

How to earn more SDU?

You earn SDU by completing almost every type of optional activity in the game. For instance, Safehouses and Order Silos grant SDU points as rewards, and they also turn into fast travel points once unlocked.

Collectibles, such as Survivalist Caches, Evocariums, Propaganda Speakers, Lost Capsules, and more, also provide you with more SDUs. Basically, you just need to continue exploring and playing to earn more resources.
