Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode is expected to release at the same time as Season 1 and will reportedly be free-to-play and called Battlefield: RedSec. Battlefield Studios recently outlined some of the changes coming to the battle royale mode based on player feedback from Battlefield Labs, including changes to armor and time-to-kill, despite the mode not having yet been officially revealed.

Changes coming as part of the Season 1 patch include improvements to animations and vaulting, reworking weapon dispersion, lighting improvements (in response to players complaining about Battlefield 6’s oppressive sun), audio updates, and more.

As for the actual new content, the opening salvo of Battlefield 6 Season 1 will add the new Blackwell Fields map, as well as a new carbine, sidearm, and sniper rifle. Then, on November 18, even more new content will be added for free, including a limited-time mode called Sabotage, a new shotgun, and a California-based map called Eastwood.

Battlefield 6 is off to a strong start ahead of Season 1, having sold 7 million copies in its first week since launch. In GameSpot’s Battlefield 6 review, we said the latest entry in the franchise is a “return to form, even if it doesn’t reach the same highs as the series at its peak.”
