
Police have made an arrest following an alleged assault on three fans at a recent Rüfüs du Sol concert in Los Angeles, California.

The incident reportedly occurred during the Grammy Award-winning group‘s gig at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles last Saturday (August 16).
In a statement shared to Instagram earlier this week, a fan alleged that she accidentally spilt a drink on a man, who later “punched me in the face, knocking me out and causing significant bleeding, while he continued attacking our group.”
A video shared by festival news platform Festive Owl, appeared to show a man knocking a woman to the ground and repeatedly throwing punches at her while other attendees try to pull him back. Please be aware that the clip, linked above, shows footage of violence.
On Thursday, the Pasadena Police Department issued an update on the incident, saying: “On August 16, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault in one of the seating areas of the Rose Bowl Stadium during a music concert. The investigation revealed that three victims were assaulted to varying degrees by a male suspect who reportedly became agitated after a drink was spilled,” per the LA Times.
They went on to name the alleged suspect, saying: “With the assistance of video footage and numerous tips from the public, Pasadena Police Department detectives were able to identify the suspect. On August 21, 2025, Pasadena police personnel arrested 23-year-old Julio Cesar Lopez Zavala in Hawthorne, CA. Formal charges are pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.”

After news of the incident emerged, Rüfüs Du Sol said they found it “devastating”, adding in a statement on their Instagram Story: “Delivering moments to our fans to gather and celebrate safely is what we live for. We have been heart broken to hear of the act of violence that took place during the opening act on Saturday,” per Rolling Stone.
“This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable anywhere, and the fact that this happened at one of our shows was devastating to learn about,” they continued. “Local law enforcement are actively investigating the situation.” At the time, they encouraged anyone with information on the incident to contact the Pasadena Police Department.
