Snook, who shot to fame in her role as Shiv Roy in HBO’s Succession from 2018 to 2023, stars as Marissa Irvine, a mother who arrives to pick up her son Milo from a play date, only to find when she gets there that she cannot find him.

It is based on the novel of the same name by Andrea Mara and co-stars Jake Lacy (The OfficeThe White Lotus), Sophia Lillis (It), Michael Peña (Ant-ManEnd Of Watch) and Dakota Fanning (TwilightMan On Fire).

In a three-star review of the show, NME wrote: “For such an intense, spindly drama, it’s a shame that All Her Fault is a little too brisk in its reveals and reversals. Red herrings are quickly cleared up, and the efficient plotting – driven by determined good guy Detective Alcaras (Michael Peña), whose unwavering competence ensures we’re always on the right track – feels very neat.”

“It leaves viewers little opportunity to do their own sleuthing. Thankfully, All Her Fault does manage to keep some things a surprise as more is revealed about its slimy cast of characters while strong performances from Snook, Fanning and Lillis add a touch of class to a guilty pleasure.”

All Her Fault ending explained: Does Sarah Snook’s Marissa find her child’s kidnapper?

The investigation into Milo’s disappearance leads to a direct confrontation in the final episode with Sophia Lillis’ Carrie, the woman identified as the kidnapper earlier in the series.

It emerged, however, that Carrie was not who Marissa and others believed she was, but actually a woman named Josephine Murphy who thought she had lost her baby in a car crash five years earlier. The other car involved in the accident was Marissa and her husband Peter’s, who were also taking their newborn son home.

Peter, it emerged, was the only one conscious after the crash and realising that Josephine’s baby had died, he swapped the two infants.

Josephine later learned what happened and began to pose as Carrie, getting a job as a nanny of one of Milo’s school friends. In the confrontation, Carrie/Josephine turned up at Marissa’s home with a gun after Milo was returned, but was charged and shot and killed by Peter.

Peter convinced Marissa not to go to the police, stressing that it would mean Milo would be taken away from them, but Marisa is unable to forgive Peter and she plots his death by exploiting his extreme allergy by eating something with soy and kissing him on the lips, having already tampered with his EpiPen.
